Trump continues multi-day attacks on NATO

President Donald Trump escalated his multi-day attack on NATO countries Friday, calling them "cowards" and a "paper tiger" for refusing to assist with his Iran military operation.

Trump has unsuccessfully pressured NATO to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route carrying 20% of global oil trade and over 20% of world fertilizer commerce.

Iran threatened to attack vessels from U.S. allies transiting the strait following American strikes.

Trump claimed the conflict is "militarily won" with "very little danger" for NATO allies, dismissing their complaints about high oil prices while accusing them of cowardice for declining involvement.

On Wednesday, Trump proposed a new coercive plan offering to "finish off" the Iranian government in exchange for NATO taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. But as of Friday, no NATO countries have committed support to Trump's proposals, further frustrating the administration.
