MANILA, Philippines – India and the Philippines entered a new phase in their 76-year relationship when the two countries forged a strategic partnership during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s state visit in August 2025.

The South Asian nation is only the Philippines’ fifth strategic partner. Marcos said the move means the two countries’ cooperation will intensify and become more impactful in areas that Manila has not widely explored with New Delhi before, including defense, trade and investment, health, and tourism.
