According to the WHO charter, a member state can only formally withdraw one year after submitting a withdrawal application. Today marks one year since the US formally submitted its application to the United Nations to withdraw from the WHO, meaning that the US has officially withdrawn from the WHO procedurally.

WHO spokesperson Lindmeier recently stated clearly that the United States has the right to withdraw, but only if it settles all outstanding dues. Currently, the United States has not yet paid its dues for 2024 and 2025, totaling approximately $260 million over the two years.
