Barstool Sports and ForePlay Golf have announced two early commitments to the second annual Internet Invitational, which is expected to feature a pledged $10 million prize purse.

“I’ve invited two people so far,” owner of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy said. “I don’t know how serious the yeses are. Caitlin [Clark] said yes. Kai Trump said yes. Those are my two that I’ve asked. Whether push comes to shove and those two are available to do it, who knows.”

Clark and Trump proved to be significant draws during the ANNIKA Driven by CoreBridge at Pelican last week, where their presence contributed to a tenfold increase in attendance during the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday rounds.

To date the six episodes of the Internet Invitational have accumulated approximately 23.5 million total views. Early episodes have nearly double the views of the finale, suggesting that the newer content has room to mature and reach its full potential. Viewership of the series eclipsed nearly every professional golf event in the 2025 season, excluding major championships and the Ryder Cup.

With the strong interest surrounding the inaugural event, Portnoy is confident he can raise the prize pool to $10 million with increased sponsor involvement for the sequel.

Portnoy has not yet announced additional participants, but as the owner of ForePlay Golf, it is likely that members Frankie Borelli, Trent Ryan, and Sam “Riggs” Bozoian will return. Champions Brad Dalke and Francis Ellis are also expected to defend their inaugural title.

Several notable omissions from the first event could make worthy additions this time, including Golficity’s Mike Fasano; No Laying Up members Chris Solomon (“Soly”), Todd Schuster (“TC” or “Tron”), and Neil Schuster (“Neil”); Random Golf Club’s Eric Anders Lang; The Fried Egg’s Andy Johnson; Break80’s Mike Fore; Mr. Shortgame’s Matt Fisher; and Stinger King Zac Radford.

It also appears likely that the event will return to Big Cedar Lodge, with the venue’s website stating, “And hosting the inaugural event, Big Cedar Lodge continues to lead the way in bringing people together through nature, sport, and storytelling.”

Big Cedar Lodge features an additional unplayed championship 18-hole course, Ozark National, along with two par-3 courses, Top of the Rock and Mountain Top, as well as a Tom Watson designed putting course. A return in 2026 would provide fresh on-course visuals and variety for viewers.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
