Nobody Wants This follows the unlikely romance between Joanne (Kristen Bell), an agnostic sex podcaster, and Noah (Adam Brody), a newly single rabbi. The series was created by Erin Foster, whose real-life love story with her now-husband inspired the concept for the show.
While Season 1 focused on the two falling in love, the next chapter of the Los Angeles-set comedy delves deeper into their relationship and the challenges that come with it. Joanne and Noah are “back and fully committed to merging their lives – and loved ones — together,” the synopsis reads. “But their differences still exist and can’t be ignored. The challenge now is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them.”
When Season 2 kicks off, the dust feels like it’s finally settled following their whirlwind romance. “Once the honeymoon period has dissipated, you start to look for patterns of why they’re gonna break your heart or things they’re doing wrong,” Bell, who also serves as an executive producer, told Netflix’s Tudum. “To continue to give the person the benefit of the doubt and live outside your comfort zone so that you can make a whole new life in a partnership is so hard.”
Brody added, “If the end of Season 1 left you with some questions, they have similar questions of each other.”

Nobody Wants This Season 2 will have 10 episodes, the same as the debut season, which premiered in September 2024. Each episode will run for 30 minutes, according to Elle.

The first season of Nobody Wants This ends with Joanna telling Noah that she’s not ready to commit to converting to Judaism. This is a major issue for Noah, who is a rabbi and has just been offered a promotion to become head rabbi at his synagogue.
However, after realizing he isn’t ready to give up their love, Noah goes after her, unwilling to sacrifice their undeniable connection. While some viewers might wonder whether Noah plans to give up his job for Joanna, Brody told Tudum that he doesn’t interpret it that way. Instead, his character’s proclamation in the finale is: “I put you first. Everything else will work itself out, but I’m saying that you are my priority.”
“In the light of day, will he still feel that way? I don’t know,” Brody continued. “It’s an open question.” At the time, he said that a second season could explore Noah’s dilemma further.
“What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes dimming yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally you grow together and you’re better for it — you don’t have to lob off a limb.”
