Technical Cause The outage occurred during a rollout addressing a vulnerability in React Server Components (CVE-2025-55182). Cloudflare increased its HTTP request buffer from 128KB to 1MB, but a subsequent change disabled an internal Web Application Firewall testing tool.  On older FL1 proxy servers, this triggered a Lua runtime error, causing HTTP 500 responses. Notably, newer FL2 proxies and servers in China were unaffected. No cyberattack was involved. The error stemmed from longstanding code not previously triggered. Response and Future Mitigation Cloudflare reverted the configuration at 09:12 UTC, restoring full service.
